SUIBE Holds 2020 Annual Council Meeting of Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb, Croatia

On the afternoon of March 19, the Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb, Croatia (CIUZ) jointly built by SUIBE and the University of Zagreb held its 2020 Annual Council Meeting. The Chinese members of the council, in room 315 of Dezheng Building, Songjiang Campus, met with their Croatian counterparts via video link.

Mr. Damir Boras, Rector of the University of Zagreb, Milos Judas, Vice-Rector of the University of Zagreb, Ms. Yu Xuemei, Vice President of SUIBE, Ms. Zou Nannan, Director of the Office of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Confucius Institute Office attended the meeting.



Before the meeting, President Wang Rongming talked with Mr. Boras at invitation. On behalf of SUIBE, Mr. Wang expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the University of Zagreb for its long-term attention on and support to the work of CIUZ and thanked again Mr. Boras for sending a congratulatory video for SUIBE’s 60th anniversary. Later, he introduced the recent development and future plans of SUIBE and noted that SUIBE takes the University of Zagreb as an important base forinter national educational cooperation in central and eastern Europe. Messrs. Wang and Boras reached a consensus to make full use of the platform of CIUZ under the Belt and Road Initiative to deepen the comprehensive cooperation between the two universities in teaching, scientific research, joint students training and exchange of faculty and students.



After the talk between the two presidents, the 2020 Annual Council Meeting of CIUZ officially began. 

The council debriefed the 2020 work summary and 2021 work plan of CIUZ and conducted in-depth exchanges on the problems recently encountered by CIUZ and its focuses in the future.



Ms. Yu pointed out that SUIBE would continue to support the development of CIUZ, enhance the latter’s school-running characteristics that integrate Chinese language teaching with tourism and focus on innovative industries, and strengthen CIUZ’s capacity of school-running and researching.
