“Niangjia and Pojia: Women’s Living Space and Backstage Power in a North China Village,” a Chinese Academic Translation Project under the National Social Science Fund of China applied by lecturer Quan Zhigang from the School of Languages, SUIBE, was approved by the national philosophy and social science planning group, according to a project list released by China’s National Office for Philosophy and Social Science on Feb. 2.

The project, jointly applied with the Commercial Press, is hosted by lecturer Quan Zhigang. It will introduce in French the representative work of Chinese contemporary anthropologist Dr. Li Xia—Niangjia and Pojia: Women’s Living Space and Backstage Power in a North China Village, and is planned to be published in France by the French National Institute of Oriental Language and Culture (l'Inalco) Press, known as “the heart of French and European Sinology.”

This project will help enhance the understanding of the “Niangjia-Pojia” relation inrural China among the French and European communities of sociology and anthropology, and also boost China-France, and even China-Europe exchanges of sociology and anthropology.
